Early Childhood Education Coordinator | Ft. Pierce, FL

The Early Childhood Education Coordinator reports to the Program Operations Director. Works closely with the Child Development Services Managers to ensure that agency�s (directly operated and contracted) curriculum and curriculum support materials are aligned with the Head Start/Early Head Start Domains and consistent with the framework of the Head Start/Early Head Start Curriculum. Work is reviewed through conferences, reports and program achievements.

This work is performed under the supervision of the Program Operations Director and reviewed through monitoring, conferences, reports, and evaluation of program area effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as mentor in working one-on-one with prot�g� teachers, contracted center teaching staff and delegate agency teaching staff to support their professional growth, their knowledge and skill, problem-solving, decision making and promoting reflective practice.
  • Works cooperatively with the Child Development Services Manager and all other staff members in planning for the implementation of the objectives of the program.
  • Conduct classroom visits/monitoring to ensure that all teaching staff are meeting the requirements under Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC and the State of Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten.
  • Plans and assists teaching staff with training in implementing an educational curriculum.
  • Demonstrates/Model teaching techniques in the classroom and provide training and technical assistance to the teaching staff.
  • Assist teaching staff to enhance parent involvement in their child�s education by promoting parent education workshops on topics relating to early literacy and language development.
  • Encourages teaching staff to work as a team in developing and implementing strategies to assist children and families.
  • Monitors and provides feedback to teaching staff on written lesson plans, use of time for staff planning, collecting and analyzing assessment information.
  • Assists teaching staff in arranging classrooms and establishing a consistent daily routine.
  • Develops with teaching staff, home learning activities designed for the individual child.
  • Monitor child assessments and ensure that data is entered in a timely manner to appropriate programs in order to produce child outcomes reports three times per year.
  • Initiate purchase orders; Coordinate and distributes educational materials/supplies relevant to the ongoing operations of the Head Start/Early Head Start classrooms.
  • Assists teaching staff in planning for home visits and/or parent conferences; review reports from these visits for compliance with standards.
  • Conduct and complete periodic assessments of children in the area of childhood development.
  • Initiate, plan, and participate in pre-service and in-service workshops with educational consultants. Participate with the design, development, and delivery of training for Head Start/Early Head Start teaching staff and volunteers.
  • Assists the in identifying and assessing the training needs of parents. The purpose of this assessment is to properly train and educate parents in supporting the child�s total development. Also requires counseling parents in meeting their social and educational development goals.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information, records and documents related to children, families and staff members.
  • Participates in pre-service and on-going in-service training, agency events, workshops and educational classes for personal development, as assigned or requested to keep abreast of educational trends and enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Reports suspected child abuse/neglect situations.
  • Assist in garnering in-kind contributions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Head Start/Early Head Start Family Services Worker | Ft. Pierce, FL

The Head Start/Early Head Start Family Services Worker reports to the Child Development Services Manager; assist in the maintenance of a cumulative file that documents services delivery in the areas of health (medical, dental), mental health, disabilities, family partnerships, and nutrition.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Child Development Services Manager and the general guidance and is reviewed through monitoring, conference, reports and results obtained.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build nurturing relationships with families to identify barriers to self-sufficiency, establish goals for independence from public assistance, facilitate mobilization and serve as a source of support.
  • Under the direction of the Child Development Services Manager, collect data to identify family’s strengths, weaknesses and stages of development.
  • Interviews selected families to obtain pertinent data; i.e., family history, health, mental health, developmental, nutritional, parent interest and submits to the Child Development Services Manager for review and forward for input into the agency�s Management Information System.
  • Responsible for recruitment, enrollment and attendance.
  • Refers clients to other organizations to obtain needed resources to meet the needs of families.
  • Provide intake services for children for Head Start/Early Head Start Centers within the target community.
  • Provides orientation for parents on the agency and the Head Start/Early Head Start program and other available community resources.
  • Maintains cumulative file on all assigned families in accordance with program�s established record keeping system including: (a) emergency or crisis assistance; (b) education and other appropriate interventions; and (c) opportunities for continuing education, employment training, and other employment services through formal networks in the community.
  • Provide access for the delivery of prenatal and postpartum care services for pregnant women to include but not limited to: (a) early and continuous risk assessments and (b) mental health interventions and follow-up.
  • Tracks attendance, secure referrals, provide follow-up to identify social service needs of children and families.
  • Provides supportive services to parents, i.e., transportation, babysitting, making and accompanying children and parents to appointments.
  • Make follow-up visits to homes of Head Start/Early Head Start families to (a) assess social service needs affecting the child’s attendance patterns and (b) provide support to strengthen the family unit.
  • Maintains and follows program confidentiality policies concerning information about children, families, and other staff members.
  • Assist in getting parents at Parent Meetings, workshops, training and conferences.

Head Start/Early Head Start Health Services Manager | Frostproof, FL

The Head Start/Early Head Start Health Services Manager reports to the Program Operations Director. Responsible for the leadership, direction, and oversight in the areas of planning, development, and implementation of operational policies and procedures for health, including child medical, dental, mental health, and child nutrition for all children including those with disabilities. Implements the program�s management systems and procedures; i.e., involving families, planning, communication, record keeping and reporting, ongoing monitoring and self-assessment. Works closely with the agency�s Food Services Coordinator to ensure nutritious meals are served to the children, and families have input into meal planning.

This work is performed under the supervision of the Program Operations Director and reviewed through monitoring, conferences, reports, and evaluation of program area effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedules comprehensive screenings within forty-five (45) days and ninety (90) days and implement follow-up treatment services, as necessary.
  • Assures that all children maintain up-to-date age-appropriate schedule of well child care by obtaining or arranging treatment for all health problems detected on enrolled children.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations are followed.
  • Assists in the annual updates and revisions of health, nutritional, disabilities, mental health and nutrition plan and procedures in conjunction with the Health Services Advisory Committee, Policy Council and parents.
  • Ensures the maintenance of individual health records of all children and maintains a health tracking system. Analyzes HSFIS reports and follow-up or through on identified needs.
  • Organizes a Health Services Advisory Committee for input, recommendations into the comprehensive delivery of health care services to include medical, dental, mental health and nutrition.
  • Reviews, evaluates and interprets health records in conjunction with the SDT and MDT to determine appropriate health services.
  • Plans and assists teaching staff in implementing a health/nutrition education and safety curriculum obtaining input from other staff and parents.
  • Counsels parents regarding the health/nutrition problems of their children, designs and conducts health/nutrition education for parents and staff. Develops Individual Health Care Plans as needed.
  • Develops a list of local health/nutrition resources and establishes working relationships with local providers through contractual agreements, as appropriate.
  • Maintains an accurate record of the children needing special diets and ensures that the agency�s Nutritionist adjust menus to meet those special dietary needs.
  • Health Services Manager or designee will monitor and provide training on the administration of all medication, in accordance with State requirements and agency�s procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all health records.
  • Works with center staff and parents to implement short-term exclusion policy.
  • Monitors food services facilities and serving areas to ensure compliance with good health and sanitation conditions.
  • Monitors food preparations, meal services, storage areas, equipment and supplies (including vehicles used to transport food).
  • Assures the proper portions of food are delivered to all classrooms.
  • Advise parents on the nature of the data being collected and its usage as it relates to transition and services.
  • Reports suspected child abuse and neglect situations.
  • Provides input regarding the budget, which includes allocating of funds for medical, nutritional and dental treatment services, supplies and equipment.
  • Completes all written reports necessary i.e., monthly narrative, Head Start
  • Ensures that program staff has an initial health examination and periodic checkups as required by state or federal agency health requirements.
  • Purchases and distributes medical supplies needed to maintain first aid kits/fanny packs.
  • Refers regular volunteers as required by local and state regulations for TB screenings.
  • Attends all pre-service, in-service training, management meetings, agency events and appropriate professional and educational conferences and meetings to develop and enhance knowledge and skills as requested.
