Message From Our CEO

As the newly selected Chief Executive Officer of the Agricultural and Labor Program, Inc., I am thankful and honored to receive the torch from the greatest CEO in the community action network.  This transition is more meaningful as we celebrate over 50 years of helping people and changing lives.   Moving forward into the future of this great organization, my heart and business mind pause to say “Thank You”, to my predecessor, Ms. Deloris Johnson.

Ms. Johnson has developed this powerful and well-respected entity into a national mentoring model of how to operate a successful community action agency and we are grateful to her for this.  In an effort to build on the strong foundation created by Ms. Johnson, I will ensure the strategic plan, goals and objectives set forth be met and effectively deliver the most dynamic results possible to all those we serve.  We will follow our mission of helping and advocating for those affected by poverty, as well as continue our commitment to bridging gaps that hinder self-sufficiency.

While we have a clear vision of what we want to be, the effects of dwindling funding, stringent policies and regulations force us to be creative in our approach and progressive in our thinking with regard to continuing our efforts to help alleviate poverty.  Although challenges may come our way, I believe that we are ready to meet them head on and no matter the outcome, challenges will not determine our destination.  Ultimately, it is my desire to strengthen the vision of ALPI’s pioneers … a vision of advocating for the needy, being a voice for the voiceless, and making a profound and lasting difference in the lives of children, families and farmworkers.

I say thank you to the Board of Directors, who provide the wisdom and vision to the organization and continue to maintain effective governance at the highest level.  Your thoughtful, collaborative work in the support and development of this agency is indeed singular.

Whether you are a potential family/client in need of motivation, guidance or assistance, a community partner, or future employee searching for a great opportunity with one of the greatest poverty fighting organizations in the country, we trust that you will find what you are looking for within ALPI’s new website.

If you wish to support the Agricultural and Labor Program in its efforts to alleviate poverty, you may do so by contacting the office at [email protected].  Your donor support/comments are indeed helpful and appreciated.  We understand that it takes everyone working together to be successful and that a goal without a plan is just a wish, but with your support and participation, the sky is the limit on what we can accomplish together.

Thank you for visiting the ALPI website and come back soon!

Arlene V. Dobison, CCAP
